Operations Director Job Description

GRADE: Director


LOCATION: Independent Living Funds, Nottingham City Centre

JOB PURPOSE: To ensure that the ILF’s administration of client service is carried out efficiently and effectively. To ensure that the Payment Assurance and Security Programmes, and the management of Overpayments are carried out efficiently and effectively.


  • Operations Directorate business plan
  • Actual expenditure against budget
  • Risk Management
  • Efficiency measures
  • Average Actual Clearance times for New Applications and Reviews.
  • Accuracy of Offers, Awards and Payee details to agreed standards.
  • Complete timescales for Reviews
  • Payment Accuracy standards.
  • Payment Security standards


  • Develop a 3-year strategic plan for the Operations Directorate.
  • Develop annual business plans identifying key activities and priorities.
  • Implement and communicate operational strategies and solutions in line with the ILF business plan.
  • Set and Manage performance targets
  • Ensure staffing levels are met and managed
  • Ensure professional management standards are adhered to
  • Maintain working knowledge of ILF policies and policies and regulations governing the ILF
  • Set and monitor Operational budgets
  • Ensure the Operations business continuity and recovery requirements are met
  • Ensure all policies and procedures relating to the
  • Operations Directorate are appropriate to the business and operational needs of the organisation.
  • Make senior level case work decisions
  • Improve the ratings of issues on the Risk Register that are owned by the Operations Directorate

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: None but graduate level preferred.

OTHER DUTIES: Specialist projects as agreed with the CEO to support the business requirements of the organisation. In addition, the Director will be prepared to carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the CEO.
