About the ILF Assessors

Who are they?

The ILF uses the services of approximately 80 self-employed Assessors to visit new applicants to the ILF, and to review the packages of ILF Users every 2 years.  The Assessors are professionals from the social care field, usually with social work or occupational therapy qualifications.

The Assessors work from their own homes, and are located throughout the UK.  They are supported and monitored by a small Social Work team at the ILF's office in Nottingham.

How are they recruited?

When there is a need for a new Assessor to be appointed, an advertisement may be put in a relevant publication (for instance, Community Care), or advertising may be done through the ILF's Contact Officers in the Local Authorities in the area.  A notice will also be posted on the ILF website.

Waiting list of people are are interested in being an Assessor

The Social Work Director keeps a waiting list of people who are interested in working as an ILF Assessor.  If someone wishes to have their name put on this waiting list they should write to the Social Worker Director (Jacky Fisher) at the ILF with a brief outline of their relevant experience in the field of adult care.  The details will be kept for 2 years.  If there is a need to appoint another Assessor in an area where there is someone on the waiting list that person will be contacted and asked if they want to make a full application.
